A little Kisstory
June 22 is National Kissing Day, a day to celebrate one of the most universal forms of affection. Though the history of the kiss is somewhat shrouded in mystery, it is thought to have originated as a way to show sincerity and honour. In ancient Rome, for example, a military general would present a kiss to a subordinate as a sign of respect. Over time, the kiss came to be seen as a sign of love and affection, and today it is used as a gesture of affection all over the world. Whether between friends, family members, or romantic partners, the kiss is a simple but powerful way to show how much we care.
I know what your thinking…Is it too soon after the global Covid pandemic to start this conversation? Perhaps, but I have heard from many people that the purposeful lack of contact and affection has had and will have a lasting effect on society.
